What Grab Bars, Showers & Ramps Actually Cost Here
The single most useful page we could write — because almost no Treasure Coast provider publishes installed prices for any of these jobs. Every number below is labeled with exactly where it comes from. Orlando and Southwest Florida numbers are labeled as such; they are context, not Treasure Coast quotes. The one local published number found to date is noted where it belongs.
Green rows are Florida numbers from named, published sources. Amber rows are honest gaps — jobs where no local or Florida number exists. We would rather show you the gap than invent a number.
Grab bar installation
| What the source says | Number | Source & label |
|---|---|---|
| Handyman hourly rate, grab-bar projects | Roughly $40–$140/hour; projects commonly $180–$700 | Angi national grab-bar FAQ — national, not Florida-specific |
| Treasure Coast published price | None found. Same Day Grab Bars: "Free Estimates" only. Treasure Coast Grab Bars: no pricing listed. | Checked company sites Oct 2026 — honest gap |
Practical read: a Vero handyman installing 2–3 bars typically lands in the low hundreds — but that is an inference from the national band, not a quote. A specialist visit that includes a full home safety assessment may price differently. Grab bar guide →
Tub-to-shower conversion / walk-in shower
| What the source says | Number | Source & label |
|---|---|---|
| Tub-to-shower conversion, full range | $1,500–$9,000, average ~$3,042 (most homeowners $1,521–$8,112) | Angi cost guide — Orlando, FL market, updated Jul 9, 2026 |
| Conversion line items | Plumbing updates $500–$2,500; permits $75–$300; debris removal $300–$800 | Same Angi Orlando guide |
| Contractor pricing tiers | Basic $1,500–$3,500; mid-range $3,000–$6,000; high-end custom $8,000–$15,000+; "sweet spot around $3,000" | Tropic Renovations — Southwest FL contractor, published tiers |
| Provider-published range | Basic $6,000–$8,500; mid $8,500–$12,000; luxury $12,000–$15,000+ | Morgan Bath & Shower — Florida provider, skews to full remodels |
| Treasure Coast published price | Shower remodels starting at $9,995 — the only TC published number found; no scope-tiered conversion price exists locally. | Discount Tub and Shower, Vero Beach — per company site, checked Oct 2026 |
Practical read: the $1,500–$3,500 basic band is the most relevant reference for a straightforward same-footprint conversion. The $6k+ bands are full tile remodels. The spread between sources is the market telling you that scope drives price — which is exactly why local quotes vary so much. Shower conversion guide →
Wheelchair ramp installation
| What the source says | Number | Source & label |
|---|---|---|
| Treasure Coast published price | None found. | Checked Oct 2026 — honest gap |
| Florida published price | None found. | Honest gap — no FL installer price observed |
Practical read (inference — not a sourced number): threshold ramps typically run a few hundred dollars for the product alone; full modular aluminum systems over several steps are multi-thousand-dollar projects. Anything more specific than that is a quote, not a guide number — and the absence of any published number is itself the local market gap. Ramp guide →
What drives the price up or down
- Plumbing moves. Keeping the drain and supply lines where they are is the single biggest cost saver in a shower conversion.
- Permits. Full remodels need them; simple bar installs don't. Permit fees in the Orlando reference were $75–$300.
- Tile vs. acrylic. Full tile walls and curbless pans cost multiples of an acrylic wall system.
- Structural surprises. Rot, mold, or bad framing found during demo — common in older Florida bathrooms — adds real money.
- Handyman vs. licensed contractor. Grab bars and threshold ramps are typically handyman-exempt work (under $2,500, no permit); conversions are licensed-remodeler work. Different tiers, different pricing. The full Florida explainer →
